I consider myself a techie, a person who is either an expert in or enthusiastic about technology. Well, I’m more of the latter; technology excites me but I’m no expert. I can very seldom afford them, but I look forward to new gadgets even when it usually means I can only read about them.
Now that I’ve decided to be more serious about blogging, I intend to equip myself with what I consider the tools of the trade. I have my laptop and desktop so I’ve got writing blog posts covered; the only struggle is in coming up with things and enough time to write. My main concern, for now, is the regularity of my posts.
However, I understand that while I get by using other people’s photos (making sure to acknowledge where I got them) this has to change pretty soon. Aside from sharing my experiences as a budding baker, I plan to help promote Zamboanga City to prospective domestic and foreign tourists. Good pictures will entice readers to come visit and I want to use my own photos to achieve that.
Hence, I have compiled a list of the gadgets that I would like to own this year. Read on to know about them.
A DSLR Camera
First up would be a Nikon D3300 DSLR camera with which I will take breathtaking photos of historical landmarks and other places of interest that would make you want to hop on the next plane and fly to Zamboanga City. Because really, there are so much more about Zamboanga City than what you see in the news and I’m practically dying to share all of them to you!
A Camera Lens
I want to post about my baking skills and I want your mouths to salivate as you look at photos of cakes and cupcakes that I make for my family. Ergo, I want to learn food photography and I was told a 50mm f/1.8G camera lens would be a nifty tool to have in my arsenal.
A Good USB Microphone
I don’t need this one as much as the other two, but it made the list because I would like to talk to you from time to time about life in Zamboanga City. Or maybe just rant.
Admittedly, it would take me a while (maybe forever) to cough up enough cash to buy them (I still refuse to get a credit card). However, I believe keeping this list will help keep me motivated to continue my 52-Week Money Challenge.
All the best with your goals to have those dream gadgets. I would love to have another DSLR but it is too heavy for me. I am back to using P&S which is a bummer when it comes to quality of photos.
That's the downside of a DSLR camera 🙁 that I would have to endure if I want to post better pictures on this blog. I think I'd use it mostly at home when I'm baking so I won't be carrying it so much. It's when I'll be visiting landmarks and places of interest that the weight would be an issue.
Hope that you achieve your goal. I'm looking forward to you owning your DSLR it is a lot of difference taking pictures with one as compared to a point and shoot.
Owning a DSLR would be one thing, learning to use it properly would be another hahaha. I hope to take good pictures like you, sis.
I wanted to have a decent camera too so I could have better picture on my blog. I hope I could achieve it this year.
Let's both work hard to save enough for a good camera, sis, so we can dazzle our readers with wonderful pictures.
I want to have a new lens too.
I admire you for having an ideal gadgets for your personal use especially in taking pictures to promote your place. Besides, photography is a very hobby, however, a very expensive task to indulge with. It takes a skill, a patient, and a lot of sacrifices in any form so to speak. Anyway, good luck to achieving your dream for 2015. (2nd comment – Gil Camporazo)
It is good to have goals (and it is good also to put your wishes on your vision board ) para you will have the drive to really save for them
I agree with Marie, it's great to have goals as this will inspire you to work harder. Good luck on your goals! Kaya mo yan! 🙂
This camera is too costly. It costs Php31,873.75. Actually, it is only your dream. There is no harm in dreaming and it costs you nothing. Isn't it?
I want to buy a new camera lens too but I have to save for it first.
If you want best quality photos DSLR is really the answer. I also saved up for DSLR 2 years ago and was able to get it before the year ends and is really useful. The downside is I get tired carrying bulky and heavy cameras. That is why I usually left it at home and took photos as needed using my smartphone.
I am looking forward to reading your future posts about the beauty and grandeur of Zamboanga. I haven't been there but I have watched wonderful stories about the city on some TV programs. I am also excited to see the photos of your current fascination on baking… I can't wait to salivate, Claudine! 🙂
As bloggers, we really need gadgets like the ones you said above. More importantly, we need good camera to take our own images for our own blog.
A DSLR is heavy. I even got the lightest one and it is still bulky and heavy but I am happy with the result. I am thinking of buying a prime lens, too. Hope you get all these tools this year!
my dream gadget for 2015 is a Go Pro Hero4. It's small but very powerful camera. good luck to us!
Great gadgets Sis, I want to have my own DSLR too but kinda expensive. I'll better save some money muna. Good luck on owning this awesome gadgets.

I also like to have that microphone but I would prefer a complete set. I mean a music room with complete equipment already 🙂
I hope you will get what your heart desires. I've been wanting/needing a DSLR camera too, but it's not in my priority. Sana may magbigay na lang. Hehehe…
Great thoughts and also a boost to your blogging career! All the best in your endeavours….
In time, I'm sure you would be able to buy a new one. Have faith!
I agree, it's quite expensive which is why I had put off buying one for the longest time. But now that I've decided to seriously blog, it's about time I also arm myself with the tools.
Yes, having goals keep me motivated. Also, it serves as a reminder for the things that I want to accomplish by the end of the year.
Thank you! I agree, one should have a clear vision of what s/he wants to achieve so as to remain motivated.
Well, DSLRs are expensive (high-end cameras can even go over P100k) but this particular camera is comparatively cheaper which is precisely one of the reasons why it's my choice of camera.
I agree, we all need to save first if we want to buy new toys.
I agree, DSLRs take the best quality pictures. It's quite an investment nga lang because it's quite expensive. And yes, weight can be an issue especially when bringing the camera on locations.
I feel the same way. If I want to be successful at blogging, I need to at least arm myself with a good camera. Good photos enhances one's enjoyment of the article.
I feel like Zamboanga City is getting the short end of the stick when it comes to media mileage because people always associate us with the ongoing war elsewhere in the peninsula. It seems like most people think the war is actually happening in my city!
Weight is really an issue with DSLR but maybe it's the price one has to pay to get better pictures. I still have a long way to go before I can finally own a DSLR camera.
Oh, I wanted to include a Go Pro Hero4 in my list but but eventually opted not to since posting video posts is not in my plans this year.
That's my plan too: save first before buying. I really don't like spending money I don't have, so I made it a point not to get a credit card. Hence, the decision to do the 52-Week Money Challenge so I can save up for gadgets and still have enough to add to my regular savings.
That would be nice too since I also plan to learn the guitar again. Who knows, maybe in the future I just might end up covering popular songs and making my own music videos hahaha!
Kung sana nga lang may magbibigay, I would have had a DSLR already. Unfortunately for me, my family and friends are not that generous as to give me such an expensive gift. How I wish though…
Thank you very much, sis! I've got a long way to go but as they say, "Every journey starts with a single step." I'm taking that step now and hoping it would lead me to where I want to go.
I'm dreaming to get a good camera too. I just hope I can buy one this year, I realize it's very important in having a good quality pictures on my blog. 😀
Good luck with your blogging, dream goals and travels! I once dreamed of owning a DSLR, too, but put it aside for now and bought me a much much cheaper point and shoot camera with some manual features, instead. 🙂
A good camera is a very worthy investment. Like you, Im saving up for blogging tools I can use. They are very pricey but all worth it!
DSLR is really heavy but its really worth it. All the best! 🙂
My husband has a DSLR and he's asking for a new lens naman, hehe. Not bad because his DSLR serves us well naman in taking photos ofr our blogs and for our products.
I also want to have a DSLR this year. I hope I could get reach my financial goal!
Since I already have a DSLR, I'm hoping to buy to have a gas range before the year ends. 🙂
